There is another familiar OU face walking around the Lloyd Noble Center halls once again. Rashard Odomes is returning to Norman as a graduate assistant, head coach Porter Moser confirmed to SoonerScoop on Tuesday afternoon.

Odomes had a big role playing for OU from 2015-19, including being a member of the 2016 Final Four team as a freshman. Someone who played with Buddy Hield and Trae Young – experienced just about everything you can as a Sooner.

“Excited for Rashard to join our family,” Moser told SoonerScoop. “Very excited to have a former player. As a graduate assistant? I think he’s going to bring a ton to our program. Being a former player, playing for a Final Four team. OU means a lot to him.

“No better example for our current players than a former player. And to be able to give a young coach an opportunity to get into the profession, what better way than to have a former OU student-athlete. I just think it’s such a win-win for everybody. He just got done with his professional career overseas. He can relate with the guys with that journey.

“Excited for his energy. From the people that I talked to when he was here, everyone talked about his toughness and his energy. That’s everything that I’m about.”

Odomes just finished a lengthy career playing overseas and told SoonerScoop he is ready to start beginning his coaching journey.

Odomes averaged 7.0 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists during his four-year career in Norman. He scored a career-best 10.1 points per game as a sophomore during the 2016-17 season.

Odomes joins a host of new faces coming to OU basketball for the upcoming season. Assistant coach Justin Scott officially arrived in Norman last weekend.

Transfer additions Nijel Pack, Tae Davis, Derrion Reid and Xzayvier Brown are all already in town and helping out at the Moser youth camp this week.

There is a lot of optimism and positivity with the program as Moser gets ready to enter season No. 5 running the show.
