Sam Landry, Kasidi Pickering pace OU softball, one win away from WCWS

Not a lot separated OU and Alabama softball during the regular season. The same, for the most part, was true Friday.
All it was going to take was one mistake here or there. That mistake? Came from Alabama pitcher Jocelyn Briski, and Kasidi Pickering made her pay.
That was enough with Sam Landry in the circle as OU earned a 3-0 victory against 15th-seeded Alabama on Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the Norman Super Regional at Love’s Field.
Scoreless in the bottom of the third, Briski walked leadoff hitter Abby Dayton. Pickering on the next pitch? A two-run bomb to centerfield.
Pickering now has 18 home runs and 56 RBIs.
Landry fared very well in 15 innings pitched against Alabama in Tuscaloosa. And the third time was as good as any. Solid command, worked out of the few jams there were.

She is now 4-0 this postseason and has all the wins for OU in the circle so far in the postseason.
The Sooners got a little insurance from Sydney Barker in the fifth. Once again it was Dayton causing the issue, with a leadoff double. Barker brought her home with a two-out RBI single.
Landry allowed a leadoff double in the top of the sixth. Signs of slowing down? Nope, followed that with back-to-back strikeouts and a weak grounder to end the threat.
Landry allowed four hits, two walks and struck out five to move to 23-4 this season. Now we will see where head coach Patty Gasso goes in the circle for Game 2. Landry threw 108 pitches.
