SEC basketball schedule for OU finalized; Kentucky, Tennessee coming to Norman
Just a little more than four months away from OU basketball beginning its initial season in the Southeastern Conference.
We knew the opponents, now we know the dates for the Sooners in the SEC.
It’s all going to begin in Tuscaloosa, with OU at Alabama on Jan. 4. And just like last year, it will all end in Austin for the second game between OU-Texas on March 8.
The SEC attacked the transfer portal in a huge way, perhaps feeling it was getting left behind. Even so, it was Bama who reached the Final Four and Tennessee in the Elite Eight.
Head coach Porter Moser knows it’s going to be tough in the SEC, just as it was during his first three seasons at OU in the Big 12.
Moser says…
“I look at what the SEC is doing in recruiting and what they’re doing and who they’re signing and the year they had last year,” said Moser. “Now I’m going to be pumping that trumpet. It’s going to be the best basketball league. Look what they did last year and signing in the portal. Look around the room and see all the teams, the coaching, I think they said there are six Final Four coaches in the room. Another three that went to the Elite Eight. That’s pretty impressive stats when you start talking like that.”

The Sooners are vying for that first NCAA Tournament appearance, after being among the First Teams out in two of the last three seasons.
OU was one of those teams that attacked the transfer portal, adding names like Duke Miles and Kobe Elvis. And, of course, finding a late gem in Jeremiah Fears reclassifying from the 2025 to the 2024 class.
Home dates vs. the likes of Baylor and Iowa State are now replaced with Kentucky and Tennessee. The grind keeps going.
OU will play A&M, Missouri and Texas twice. Every other team? The Sooners will see just once as part of their 18-game schedule.
