Sights and Sounds: OU softball three-peat
OKLAHOMA CITY – OU softball did it. With all eyes on the team going for a third straight national championship, the Sooners did just that.
Oklahoma finished a season for the ages with a 3-1 victory over No. 3 Florida State to sweep the championship series of the Women’s College World Series.
It is the seventh national championship for head coach Patty Gasso. Sophomore pitcher Jordy Bahl was named the WCWS’ Most Outstanding Player.
OU ends with a ridiculous 61-1 overall record and on a 53-game winning streak. The Sooners become just the second program to ever win back-to-back-to-back softball championships. UCLA did the same from 1988-90.
The 53-game winning streak is the longest in softball history, and the 61-1 record is the greatest winning percentage in a season.

Bahl pitched all five WCWS games. She didn’t allow a run, going 4-0 and a save in the final game. Joining her on the All-WCWS team from the Sooners were Rylie Boone, Kinzie Hansen, Jayda Coleman and Tiare Jennings.
At last, a moment to rest, relax and breathe.
“The grind of the season, the competition we faced, just shows that we were tested in the best way,” junior Tiare Jennings said.
“Everything happens for a reason. We were led to be on this journey together, and this team, to keep our eyes up. But just to see the joy of the transfers and the freshmen, for them, that’s what I love. I experienced this, and this year has been the most fun with that. Just seeing them and being genuinely truly happy for each other, you can’t ask for anything better.
