Oklahoma’s work in the transfer portal is fully underway with nearly a dozen offers out and even more Sooners headed elsewhere. So let’s have a look at all that is happening in Brent Venables and his staff’s first full run at the portal. Oklahoma has a bit of a moving scale but it looks as though roughly 10 new additions could be headed to Norman via the portal. Who are the Sooners focusing on? The Portal Tracker will keep you up to date.

Sooners Commitments (8)

Career Stats: 32 career games (24 starts)
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Spencer Brown is a guy with a ton of experience at right tackle, the position that seems to be the Sooners most glaring need in this portal class. He’s a big man that could be a nice fit for Oklahoma’s need. He also brings some real experience to a 2024 offensive line that is short on it.

MORE ON BROWN HERE

Career Stats: 30 career games (13 starts). 63 receptions, 804 yards and seven touchdowns.
Eligibility Remaining: Two years
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Burks is a veteran receiver who has the speed to stretch the field and big play ability the Sooners, and everyone else are always looking for. He also gives Oklahoma some versatility in the way they can move in inside and outside.

MORE ON BURKS HERE

Career Stats: 24 career games (13 starts). 315 rushes for 2,129 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also had 27 receptions for 174 yards and a touchdown.

Eligibility Remaining: Two years

Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Oklahoma’s running back room went from massive numbers to being very lean in a short amount of time. And to have a back who has produced far more than anyone on the Sooners roster? That’s an idea that has a lot of merit and he’s someone Oklahoma can be involved with.

MORE ON FRANKLIN HERE

Career Stats: 33 career games (23 starts). 89 tackles (67 solo), four tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, and 12 passes defended.

Eligibility Remaining: One year

Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: There are few things that Brent Venables and his staff seem to enjoy more than a player with real positional flexibility. Malone fits into that mold after spending much of his early career at safety before moving to corner in 2022.

MORE ON MALONE HERE

Career Stats: 24 career games (20 starts)

Eligibility Remaining: Two years

Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: This one is as obvious as any guy that Oklahoma may pursue. Nwaiwu was recruited by Sooners new offensive coordinator Seth Littrell when he was still the head man for the Eagles. He’s also got a wealth of experience along the right side where Oklahoma is preparing to overhaul it’s unit.

MORE ON NWAIWU HERE

Career Stats: 25 career games (11 starts). 40 receptions for 366 yards and four touchdowns.

Eligibility Remaining: Two years

Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Sharp is another player that has flashed potential but will be looking for a chance to prove himself. The Sooners starter is on his way out and there’s no clear heir apparent to him. Could Oklahoma’s obvious playing time make an interesting possibility?

MORE ON SHARP HERE

Career Stats: 42 career games (28 starts)
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Tarquin is a guy that was targeted by Bill Bedenbaugh not only last year but as a high school recruit as well. The Sooners have a chance to finally get their man heading into the 2024 season.

Career Stats: 37 career games (26 starts). 75 tackles (35 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss (106 yards), 14.5 sacks (92 yards), five passes defended, three forced fumbles.
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Oklahoma has a clear need at defensive end, especially for one with Woullard’s level of production. The Sooners have playing time available and Woullard would get to make a major jump into the SEC. Beyond those generalities though there’s not a ton that draws a clear line between Woullard and the Sooners though.

OU Portal Offers (1)

Career Stats: 12 career games (1 start)
Eligibility Remaining: Three years + redshirt
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Heard is a huge talent who just got stuck behind a couple of high end offensive tackles in Baton Rouge. However, the Sooners have a real need at tackle and he could be a guy who steps right in if he’s half as good as folks in Norman expect.

Offers/Targets Headed Elsewhere (11)

Career Stats: 41 career games (33 starts). 656 carries for 4003 yards and 38 touchdowns. 43 receptions for 288 yards and one touchdown .
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Oklahoma has a lot of young talent at the running back position. A player who could come in and be a solid piece as that youth grows up makes a lot of sense. He’d get to keep playing at a high level and his veteran leadership could be key for the Sooners.

MORE ON ANDERSON HERE

COMMITTED TO: Memphis – Dec. 17, 2023

Career Stats: 34 career games. 74 receptions, 846 yards and six touchdowns.
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Conyers and Oklahoma have already been a fit once before. With Oklahoma’s need at the position and Conyers looking for a new, and successful home, – it’s not hard to imagine it working out. We know that it wasn’t that long ago he chose the Sooners.

COMMITTED TO: Texas Tech – Dec. 10, 2023

Career Stats: 11 career games (1 start)
Eligibility Remaining: Two Years
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Ferguson will see a Sooners offense that is losing both of it’s starting guards and see an opportunity that he never really got in Tuscaloosa. Oklahoma has a need to add more size and talent on the inside and he fits that mold. There is promise here and perhaps Bill Bedenbaugh can unlock something.

COMMITTED TO: Florida State – Jan. 11, 2024

Career Stats: 26 career games and 22 starts over last two years at Albany. 133 tackles (83 solo), 41 tackles for loss, 25 sacks, seven forced fumbles and 21 quarterback hurries at Albany and Southern Connecticut State in 2019.
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Oklahoma, led by Brent Venables and Miguel Chavis, kind of love guys like this. Juncaj is a guy with a big-time motor and brings a lot of balance to the EDGE. He’s also a guy the Sooners wasted absolutely no time getting involved with. One of their quickest offers from portal entry to the time the offer was made.

COMMITTED TO: Arkansas – Jan. 5, 2024

Career Stats: 25 career games (1 start). 46 tackles (14 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery.
Eligibility Remaining: Two years + redshirt
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: The Sooners pursued the Oklahoma product off and on during his high school days. But the Owasso graduate saw Oklahoma waste little time with an offer in their second go around. The big man has the eye of the Sooners and could be one to follow.

COMMITTED TO: Missouri – Dec. 26, 2023

Career Stats: 12 career games (4 starts). 31 tackles (16 solo), two interceptions, seven passes defended.
Eligibility Remaining: Three years + redshirt
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: McCoy is a Whitehouse, Texas native that the Sooners will see a lengthy future with. The talented defender started four games for a good Oregon State defense. The Sooners seem like a fit that makes some sense if he wants to get closer to home.

COMMITTED TO: Tennessee – Dec. 20, 2023

Career Stats: 35 career games (31 starts). 143 tackles (90 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 17 passes defended, one interception.
Eligibility Remaining: One year
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: One of the easiest Sooners targets to make sense of. Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables recruited Mukuba to Clemson from Austin Lyndon B. Johnson. Since then Mukuba has emerged as a three-year starter and could, again, play under the man who gave him his start in Clemson.

MORE ON MUKUBA HERE

COMMITTED TO: Texas – Dec. 18, 2023

Career Stats: 34 career games. 137 tackles (68 solo), 15 tackles for loss, six sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Eligibility Remaining: Two years
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Chris Paul Jr. is a guy that has a load of experience that the Sooners want to add to a room that lacks much of it. Oklahoma has plenty of young talent but Paul Jr. brings an athleticism and physicality that they could use.

COMMITTED TO: Ole Miss – Dec. 8, 2023

MORE ON PAUL JR. HERE

Career Stats: 31 career games (14 starts)
Eligibility Remaining: Two years
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Reed-Adams makes a lot of sense was Kansas’s left guard last year. There’s no position where Oklahoma has less experience returning and the two may be a fit. The Sooners got to see Reed-Adams up close last year and there’s plenty of indication they are impressed by his work.

COMMITTED TO: Texas A&M – Jan. 7, 2024

MORE ON REED-ADAMS HERE

Career Stats: 22 career games (9 starts). 16 receptions 187 yards and four touchdowns.
Eligibility Remaining: Two years + redshirt
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Staes is a player that Oklahoma has some familiarity with due to their numerous connections in Georgia. Oklahoma needs an immediate injection of talent at the position and Staes has flashed some big-time potential.

COMMITTED TO: Tennessee – Dec. 17, 2023

MORE ON STAES HERE

Career Stats: 18 career games (8 starts)
Eligibility Remaining: Two years
Why he and Oklahoma Make Sense: Oklahoma has already landed one Spartans offensive lineman and could make it another with Vandermark. He’s an interesting player that was a fairly well thought of high school prospect. He also would give the Sooners a a meaningful player with a lot of experience at OU’s currently youthful right guard spot.
