Sooners Chasing More Elite Talent

Oklahoma’s offer list continues to grow with names from across the country reporting recent Sooners offers. As the Sooners go through changes on offense, defense, as well as adding an entire new front office wing it’s no surprise that new talent is always presenting itself. We break down the Sooners latest offers and just what chances Oklahoma might have.
What’s on Tape: Offensively Akana has the frame a big outside receiver but he also shows some wiggle and ability to separate. As a defender he is a violent safety that loves nothing more than coming down hill and decleating a ball carrier.
Sooners Chances: Oklahoma has done well in the area and a visit seems completely possible.
What’s on Tape: Balogun is a guy who figures to only see his stock rise in the months to come. He’s got elite closing speed, shows some feel for the position but is just a player who consistently makes big plays for the defense.
Sooners Chances: The Sooners are going to have to makeup some ground but he’s an intriguing enough player to try and do exactly that.
What’s on Tape: Evans is a young corner who likes to play press and tries to use his speed and strength to his advantage. The thing you like most for such a young player is how under control and confident he is, even when a receiver gets a little room to work Evans remains calm and uses his recovery speed and length to break up a pass.
Sooners Chances: There’s a lot of time in this chase but the Sooners track record in the area is pretty minimal.
What’s on Tape: Guerrant almost lulls you to sleep with how easy he makes it all look. Whether at corner making one-handed interceptions or at receiver where he makes plays at all depths he just looks under control at all times.
Sooners Chances: Another young guy that seems open to the Sooners but Michigan is a tough place to win for OU, historically speaking.
What’s on Tape: Odem is a Florida corner with big-time length but unlike a lot of longer corners he drives on the ball in front of him quite well. There’s considerable potential here.
Sooners Chances: He took a trip to see the Sooners today and early reviews are it went well. Oklahoma has some catching up to do though.

What’s on Tape: Petit is an impressive twitchy athlete for a player with so much size. His first few steps show easy acceleration and he even has the look of a guy who can become a solid route runner.
Sooners Chances: There’s a lot of buzz around Miami with him at this point.
What’s on Tape: Rasmussen is ultra-twitchy and shows off great feet on tape. He changes direction with ease and is highly competitive when the ball is in the air.
Sooners Chances: Another Utah prospect for the Sooners to chase and one that they seem to be in on early with a chance to turn his head.
What’s on Tape: A diverse defender that Allen has used in a lot of different ways. At times he is manned up in pass defense. The next moment he is lined up on the edge and making plays in the backfield.
Sooners Chances: The Sooners in Dallas are always going to have a fighting chance.
What’s on Tape: A big athlete who moves around well and plays a variety of position from quarterback, to receiver, and safety on defense. Voss is a guy who has as lot of room to grow into whatever his college future may be.
Sooners Chances: Voss is a player who has picked up a lot of notoriety but he feels like a guy that the Sooners will connect well with.
