Sooners Camp Kicks Off
Oklahoma’s summer camp starts in earnest today with the first of five elite camps starting on Thursday morning. As such it’s time to take a look at the impressive talent we expect to be on hand from session to session. We’ll start with a June 1 camp that has at least five offers on hand with more to come.
Sooners Quarterbacks Go Head to Head
There’s been plenty of talk about the Sooners having a pair of quarterback commitments both from the same area of Dallas. But rarely have the two been seen at the same place at the same time. That figures to stop on Thursday as both Michael Hawkins and Kevin Sperry are expected to be on hand for day one of camp.
Hawkins, the class of 2024 commitment, will be very interesting to follow as he is a guy that has shown growth this offseason. Can he really put together a dominant performance and start to put himself in place for a potential move? Obviously everyone knows that Hawkins is a hyper-athletic quarterback but seeing his progress as a passer could be crucial for him as he heads into his senior year.
Sperry is another that seems to be picking up considerable momentum in the spring. He has shown high-end potential for the Scoop staff on a couple of different occasions. This feels like a chance for him to really build some rapport with a few different receivers.
Another Sooners Commitment to Catch Passes
At receiver there is another duo of names to know coming in – 2024 commitment Zion Kearney as well as 2025 offer Adrian Wilson.
Kearney and Wilson are a pair of top 100 overall prospects in their class in the On3 industry rankings. Kearney is a powerful receiver who is undoubtedly looking to build his bond with Hawkins as the two get to know each other better.

Wilson may not work out for a long time but the Sooners are going to get a nice long look at the big-time receiver who stars at 6-foot-1 and 170-pounds.
A Matchup in the Secondary
Battling the two talented receivers will be in-state cornerback offer Trystan Haynes of Carl Albert and 2024 defender Fatu Mukuba. Haynes has blown up this spring and is another legitimate contender for the state’s top spot in the star-studded class of 2025. It will be interesting to see him contend with the likes of Wilson and Kearney after spending his practice time facing off another elite talent like Trynae Washington.
Mukuba, the younger brother of Clemson standout Andrew, is a guy that could play a number of roles in the secondary. It will be interesting to see how much focus the Sooners put on him.
An Intriguing Name from an Unusual Place
A name around Oklahoma that the Scoop staff is really excited to see is Tulsa Will Rogers 2025 defensive lineman Josiah Hammond. The big pass rusher has been impressive at some camps so far this spring and watching him workout in Norman feels like a unique opportunity to watch the young lineman work against some high-end competition.
