Coming off a week-long tour around the Sooner state and right before the Sooners start their own summer camps, there’s plenty to cover in this week’s Board Chat. So as we get ready to cover five days of Oklahoma camp in the next two weeks let’s catch up on all that’s happening and answer the questions of SoonerScoop.com’s mass of Sooners fans and responses. Take a look at some of this week’s bigger talking points.

Who are the Next In-State Offers for the Sooners?

Is there an Oklahoma kid in the 24/25/26 class that is not on anyone’s radar yet, but should be after your tour of the state?

2024: Witt Edwards, Wagoner
2025: Caleb Hawkins, North Rock Creek – Blake Cherry, Owasso
2026: Ryley Kester, Sand Springs – Kaydin Jones, Jenks

What Signs To Look for in 2023 to See Sooners Progress?

1.) If there is one thing that you will be looking for to determine whether Brent Venables has turned things around, what will it be?

2.) For 2023, most overrated and under rated teams in the Big 12 and College Football as a whole?

1. It’s the defense and their level of organization/depth. It just can’t be that bad AGAIN, if it is, alarm bells start going off.

2. Big 12: Texas Tech, there’s a lot to like there but ready to compete for a Big 12 title with no clear answer at QB and a lack of difference makers on defense? Ehhh, I’m not sure I’m there yet.
Nationally: Texas A&M. I mean, I get it, I do I’m a talent guy and they’ve got LOOOOOADS of it. But still how many times can this train wreck happen before people stop counting on it.

Come for SEC Talk, Stay for a Bluey Breakdown

1) When OU makes the move to the SEC, which teams are you most excited to see OU play?

2) What do you think the Pods/divisions will look like?

Bonus: I read a few Board Chats back that you are a big “Bluey” fan. Curious to know what your top 3 favorite episodes are. I think we can all agree that Bandit is the best TV dad of all time. My favorite episodes I enjoy watching with my kiddo are “Sleepytime”, “Stumpfest”, and “Road Trip”.

1. I mean to me LSU is the answer, OU in a night game in the Swamp…that’ll be amazing. Obviously the first time they meet Georgia is going to be a lot of fun to watch as well.

2. I don’t think you’re going to have any of that, I think they’ll go nine with 3 fixed and 6 shifting games. It’s the easy way to make sure you play the entirety of the conference every four years. Plus I think it allows real rivalries to be maintained.

*First off, Bandit is an absolute hero.

As for my favorite episodes…

Pass the Parcel – I find this VERY relatable as it’s something I would do.
FaceyTalk – just the uncle dealing with a child who is determined to not listen.
Unicorse – largely because the girls love it and we watch it together a lot.
