Sooners Preparing for a Final Weekend
With yesterday’s news of Oklahoma and Grant Brix seemingly on different paths there’s just no denying that the Sooners seem ready to find someone new in 2024. And the name that may not be directly connected to Brix but definitely seems to make the most sense is Tulane commitment Tyler Mercer.
The Prosper, Texas native was on campus two weeks ago for the Sooners big win over West Virginia and though he came away without an offer it felt almost like delaying the inevitable. With Brix’s seeming departure from Oklahoma’s plans that inevitability may be on the horizon.
As we’ve detailed Mercer has grown up a Sooner fan and has near endless family connection to the program so an offer would seem a very likely eventual decision from the big offensive lineman.
Speaking to some sources it feels like that offer could happen at any point so keep an eye on things as once it does, Mercer could very well be on flip watch. This only becomes more notable as we continue to approach the opening of the portal on Dec. 4. Oklahoma will want to know what numbers they’ll need to fill in the portal so things could happen fast not only with Mercer but any remaining pieces of 2024 in general.
Sooners Set to Host Elite Mesquite Duo
While the visit list is still being compiled there are two names we’re ready to confirm that are currently prime targets for Oklahoma in the upcoming years. Mesquite Horn duo Lamont Rogers and Legend Bey are both going to be in Norman on Friday.
As we talked about a few weeks ago, the Sooners are in very strong standing for both. However, the pair coming to Norman for the first time since the SMU game to see the Sooners is a clear indication of the momentum Oklahoma has.
