It won't be getting any easier for Oklahoma baseball
Even though it was expected, the release of the Oklahoma SEC baseball schedule on Thursday served as a small reminder: it ain’t getting any easier.
Skip Johnson’s club will roll out the red carpet for four of the last five national champions. Oklahoma is playing host to Mississippi State (March 21-23) in the SEC home-opening series, along with LSU (April 4-6), Vanderbilt (April 11-13), Ole Miss (May 9-11) and Texas (May 15-17).
Oklahoma opens its inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference on the road at South Carolina (March 14-16), while also traveling to Alabama (March 28-30), Missouri (April 17-19), Georgia (April 25-27) and Kentucky (May 9-11).
In summary, eight new conference neighbors made the 2024 NCAA tournament last season, including two Super Regional teams and one opponent in Kentucky that made it to Omaha.

“They understand the expectation. They understand how to work and really you don’t play for an expectation. You play against the baseball and really try to understand how to be more efficient,” said Oklahoma head coach Skip Johnson while in the SoonerScoop studios this past summer.
“Nothing is perfect in baseball. It’s an imperfect sport. That’s the great thing about baseball,” Johnson said. “That’s what’s awesome about what we do.”
Heading into the SEC, Oklahoma is on the right track
Oklahoma heads into America’s premier college baseball conference coming off its best finish in the Big 12 in school history, sweeping a conference record six series and the No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament. OU hosted an NCAA Tournament Regional for the first time since 2010 and won 40 games for the second time in three years.
