SoonerScoop coverage wrap-up: OU finishes non-conference in style

Now that’s a little more like for OU. Across the board. No drama, no fourth quarter clutch moments necessary. The Sooners did what they were expected to do in a 66-17 victory at Tulsa.
From quarterback Dillon Gabriel (421 yards, five touchdowns) to a punishing defense (five interceptions, 15 tackles for loss), this is how Brent Venables wanted to end the non-conference part of the schedule.
“He’s playing phenomenal right now,” said wide receiver Drake Stoops about Gabriel. “It’s a testament to the player he is, how hard he prepares and studies the game. I mean, it’s just fun to get to celebrate his success too.
“As a receiver group, when your quarterback’s playing like that, it’s just a good time out there. It really is. He’s putting the ball in tight windows, trusting us to make plays. That’s just what it’s all about at the end of the day.”
The Sooners are 3-0, but it feels a lot different compared to the 3-0 of 2022.
