Sometimes the worst thing that can happen for OU fans is to have time. Being busy is good, doesn’t allow you to really examine things.

But when football goes on break? You really see or debate where things stand. Not just with head coach Brent Venables or men’s basketball coach Porter Moser, but the whole athletic department.

It has been a rough introduction to SEC life for the Sooners, especially the OU men. And it’s not about to get any easier with baseball getting started and softball featuring the three best teams in the country.

We get it, feel the frustration. So let’s break it all down on this week’s edition of the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.

Men’s basketball has looked like a trainwreck in the last two weeks, dropping three straight games by at least 18 points.

Running backs coach DeMarco Murray is sticking around OU, after flirting with Penn State earlier in the week. But what to make of the offensive staff?

Questions, questions galore. Not sure any real answers can be provided right now. But come along for the ride.

Murdock summary:

The guys gather back after a freeze took over OKC on Wednesday and we’re airing grievances. Men’s basketball is falling off a cliff once again, so where do things stand with Porter Moser? And with that said, where do things stand with Joe Castiglione? With Brent Venables coaching for his job in 2025, how far behind is Castiglione? The guys discuss where everything currently stands in the athletic department. We’re also breaking down what has gone wrong with the OU basketball program. How much has a lack of NIL hurt OU hoops? And who would even take over the job at Oklahoma the way things are? It also seems like the new entertainment district is dead with a new mayor taking over in Norman.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
