At this time next week, the countdown will be at zero for OU football. Seriously. Zero days away from the OU season opener.

But we’re not there yet. We’ve got this one last week. A week where preseason camp is officially wrapped up. And Brent Venables and company are moving onto game preparation for Temple.

The Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop returns and attempts to break everything down that hasn’t been talked about. But honestly? Well, that’s not much at this point, ha.

Final week questions

That’s where we start. There are always things you feel like you’ve learned from camp and then don’t mean anything in the regular season.

Remember Gavin Freeman? Rondell Bothroyd? Were there any stories like that this time around for OU? A guy who might have been mentioned a bit in August but will fade away.

Then there’s Woodi Washington. You know he won’t fade away, but we’re all still sort of wondering where he’s going to play? Did he come back at OU for one last run at cornerback? Or will Venables see a new role for Washington?

We’ve attempted to Make Lindsey Street Great Again, and we’ll see what the tailgating atmosphere will look like in Norman next Friday. Will the move to the Southeastern Conference actually mean a different feeling around the stadium?

And how will OU handle the Temple game? Time to let Jackson Arnold spread his wings and let it fly? Or do you hold back some things and wait for the right moment?

Hey, we’re seven days away. We’ve discussed a lot in the last month.

Fasusi headed to OU

August recruiting came down to one decision for OU. Just one. But it was a big one, and it went in favor of the Sooners.

Lewisville (Texas) High five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi picked OU on Wednesday afternoon. The month of August is officially a success. Check and check for offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop. This week’s episode of the Unofficial 40 is presented by the Oklahoma Zooligical Society’s 16th annual ZOObrew presented by Byron’s Liquor Warehouse. Event to take place at the OKC Zoo September 27.
