It has been a bit of a strange week covering OU football. The Sooners are getting ready for a massive showdown against No. 7 Alabama.

It is senior night at OU, all the emotions. Head coach Brent Venables and Team 130 still vying for that magic win No. 6 to become bowl eligible.

Like it’s a big game, right? But honestly? A lot of attention, borderline all the attention, is on OU figuring out the offensive coordinator spot.

So that’s where we are for this edition of The Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop. Let’s get right to it.

Who is the OC?

No, we don’t know yet. But it does feel like we’re getting closer and closer. The two names that keep popping up? Joe Craddock (Tulane) and Ben Arbuckle (Washington State).

If it’s not them, we can now safely assume it isn’t some other names like Dan Mullen. You figured the bye week would accelerate the search process, and it definitely feels like it has.

Venables wants to get this done. Will it be completed by national signing day, now less than two weeks away?

If OU can keep together the 2025 offensive class, it would go a long ways toward showing the belief is still there in Venables and what he’s trying to do.

Where’s Fasusi?

He’s going to be pretty easy to find. But where is OU commitment Michael Fasusi going to be this weekend? In Norman? Austin? Other?

A lot of chatter about the no-visit policy from Venables and him doubling down on that once again earlier this week.

The Sooners, of course, need Fasusi for this class. It will be an anxious 24-48 hours figuring it all out. Regardless, OU will be in for a fight the next couple of weeks.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from The Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
