It’s a day later, but the disappointment still stings with OU basketball. It’s not often the Sooners have a prime chance to make an impression. Not just in college basketball but with OU fans, in general. A chance to convert some casuals into something more.

It simply didn’t happen, didn’t come close in the 75-60 loss to Texas. And the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop has a lot to say about it.

So does the head coach.

“I’m disappointed,” head coach Porter Moser said. “I’m disappointed because we got the lead, fans were awesome. I’ve worked my ass off to get people in here, and that’s on me. That’s on me.

“Obviously, we didn’t play to our standards, and you got to give them credit, but it starts with me. I put that team out there today, and we thought we were ready, but we looked tired in the second half.”

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the five-man crew (Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich, George Stoia).

Now? It’ll be about bouncing back for Sooners. OU hosts No. 20 Texas Tech (15-3, 4-1) on Saturday afternoon.

You get an offer, you get an offer

Co-defensive coordinator Zac Alley is making his presence known, and the Sooners are busy on the offer trail. McCuistion recently broke down 39 new offers for the Sooners.

Offers galore, and now a junior day coming up for OU. Brent Venables and company have put in so much work already that it doesn’t feel like a commitment should be coming. But of course, you never know.

Respect to Baker

There are still a bunch of former OU stars alive in the NFL playoffs. But we give one last shoutout to former quarterback Baker Mayfield. Turned his career around in Tampa and had a banner outing despite the loss.

Is Mayfield officially the answer for the Bucs?

All that and a whole lot more, including college football musings, in this week’s Unofficial 40 from SoonerScoop.
