We’re not quite into game preparation week mode yet for OU, but we’re getting closer and closer. Reaching that point where we’re checking off boxes and answering those questions.

Three weeks, two scrimmages, we’ve learned a lot about Brent Venables has for Team 130 and what OU can do.

The Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop is back for another edition where it’s time to empty the notebook, per se. Everything we’re hearing.

OU right on track

That’s sort of the phrase right now. The team is rounding into form and getting ready for the season. It’s right on schedule.

A lot of attention is coming on the defense, and hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. It might not have been the case in years past at OU, but it’s where we’re at here.

Oh, and about that quarterback controversy? Ha, moving on. Venables shut that down quickly Tuesday when talking about Jackson Arnold.

Buckle up as we go position-by-position and break it all down. From tight end to linebacker to special teams to everything in between, things are starting to become clearer for OU now just 14 days away from the opener.

Fasusi countdown is on

August can be a pretty quiet recruiting month. It almost has to be since it’s a dead period without any visits allowed. However, OU has one mega-decision coming up.

Five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi is ready to make his call. Aug. 21 has been the date for so long and doesn’t sound like anything is changing.

OU still loves where it stands. Will there be any last-minute drama? Or has Fasusi truly made his decision and is simply waiting for next Wednesday?

It obviously would be a massive victory for OU, if it goes down that way.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
