It wasn’t an ideal situation for OU football, but fans still showed out. No, it wasn’t the 50,000 or more of years past. But the Sooners did bring 16,000 for the first Crimson Combine on Saturday afternoon.

The day on the field? Not much to write home about. A simulated practice and 30 minutes of some crowd-pleasing activities. The autograph session following the event was probably the highlight for many fans. However, we were treated to listening to several coaches and players following the event.

And hey, there was zero drama involved in the event or in the spring. So take a deep breath there.

And that’s where you started to really learn, perhaps, what this spring was like. So let’s break it all down.

It’s time for the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop to recap the day that was for OU and the fans.

State of the offense? What’s going on with the transfer portal window about to open? How are the first-year coaches settling in?

It’s the final time you’re going to hear about OU football from the people themselves until the summer.

Murdock summary:

The Sooners held the first ever Crimson Combine today in Norman instead of the annual spring game. Here’s our take not just on what we saw today, but our takes about the spring as a whole after speaking with Brent Venables, offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, quarterback John Mateer, Nate Dreiling and Wes Goodwin, along with several players. The offense gives hope if you are willing to take it. The defense has had some players step up and some players are very intriguing. It’s the Eskridge Lexus Postgame show wrapping up the Crimson Combine and the interviews after it was over.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop.
