Give yourself a pat on the back as game week has arrived at OU, and the SoonerScoop crew is back again for another edition of the Unofficial 40.

Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich and George Stoia return to talk all things Sooners as Brent Venables and crew get ready for Arkansas State on Saturday.

First game weekend of the year means it’s time for official visitors as well.

Depth chart musings

*Was there a message being sent by the coaches about the running back depth chart? Even though Tawee Walker is a feel-good story, is it more about letting the younger guys know you have to raise your game?

*Cheetah is still 1a. and 1b. with Justin Harrington and Dasan McCullough. And you know what? Maybe that’s actually going to be a good thing.

*Offensive line is where “OR” goes to die. No or to be found here. The five-man unit is set. Time to watch them work.

*OK, it’s time for the Church of Kanak to be opened. Why it’s nothing but a positive that Jaren Kanak is the unquestioned starter.

Another five-star weekend?

*McCuistion looks back at the five-star weekend for the Sooners with Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy’s David Stone picking OU last Saturday. Could another be on the way?

*Five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley has had OU in his finalists for a long time. But could the Sooners pull off another victory? He is going to announce 3:30 p.m. Friday. Texas A&M looks to be the biggest threat, and a very, very legitimate one at that.

*Not a bunch of official visits, but two big ones with Danny Okoye and Daniel Akinkunmi. McCuistion already has an OU prediction for Akinkunmi. Could a good weekend with Okoye persuade McCuistion to do the same with the Tulsa NOAH star?

All that and a whole lot more from the crew in this game week edition of the Unofficial 40 from SoonerScoop, including a look at what Venables’ role could be this season.
