You don’t need to keep one eye open toward the transfer portal anymore for OU. You can have both of them locked in as to what is happening in that regard.

The Sooners wrapped up spring ball with the Red-White game Saturday. Now? We tamper (kidding, sort of) and portal with the best of them.

Who are those names? Time to talk about it all in the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop. The five-man crew (Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich, George Stoia) are ready to break it all down.

Let’s portal, boys

As we’ve discussed, there aren’t a lot of portal needs for the Sooners. There just aren’t. But if OU can find some offensive linemen and defensive tackles, it will jump.

OU has already checked off that box twice in the last week with former SMU center Branson Hickman and former Louisville defensive tackle Jermayne Lole.

The Sooners have shot their shot with former TCU defensive tackle Damonic Williams. Now? Play the waiting game.

You want to add from the portal. But you’re going to lose guys, too. OU said goodbye to Justin Harrington last week. He probably won’t be the last one to hit here in the week ahead.

But let’s not talk basketball portal

It continues to be an uphill climb for Porter Moser and the men’s basketball team. OU did get its first portal commitment in Kobe Elvis.

Outside of that? A lot of misses. A lot of thinking one thing when reality is another. The Sooners still have four scholarship spots open. Still time, but it is running out.

Recruiting rolling

Hey, McCuistion, do you care about a 2027 kid? All jokes aside, OU did land a huge commitment from the spring game with 2027 defensive end Zane Rowe.

The Sooners had nearly 100 recruits in attendance for the spring game. No doubt a busy one for the staff and all parties involved.

Now? Time to hit the road. The spring evaluation period is upon us, and the OU coaches are being as aggressive as usual in reaching out to the top targets.

All that and more. The banter you’ve come to expect with the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
