SoonerScoop podcast: OU spring sports bonanza
There isn’t one thing dominating the OU sports landscape right now. But there is so much going on across the board.
Head on a swivel type of week, and SoonerScoop was there for it all. And returns for another Unofficial 40 podcast to break it all down.
The five-man crew (Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich, George Stoia) can help you get caught up in multiple sports from the last week.
Spring football is here
No, no media access for spring football. But practice did begin Monday, and Team 130 is officially on the clock for head coach Brent Venables.
An updated roster shows the weight gains for several prominent players and an idea of what to watch in the next month.
The coaching staff is finalized, and now so are the contracts from the Board of Regents. The numbers are in for Zac Alley and the raises are locked up for Todd Bates and Bill Bedenbaugh. What does it all suggest?
Going back a bit to Team 129, there was pro day. It was the event for Drake Stoops, Jonah Laulu and Isaiah Coe to put their best foot forward. It felt like they did that, but no idea if it will be enough come NFL Draft weekend.

Selection Sunday looms
Disappointing trips in Kansas City for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The women seem poised to be in a No. 4/No. 5 seed type of deal. But no matter what, because of the schedule of the Big 12 women’s gymnastics championships, OU cannot host the first two rounds of basketball.
Flip it over to the men, and head coach Porter Moser has his talking points. The big one? OU was 18-6 at full strength and should become full strength over the weekend. Is OU clearly in as a No. 9 or No. 10 seed? Or will the Sooners fall to Dayton as one of the Last Four in?
Recruiting roundup
McCuistion has detailed breakdowns of what OU targets did at the Under Armour camp. The spotlight remains on the 2025 offensive tackle class. It’s a great one, and the Sooners are sitting pretty with so many of the top-tier guys. Time for Bedenbaugh to shine?
Impressions, thoughts and how it might affect things moving forward with the 2025 class.
Plus, initial conference recaps for baseball and softball as they move toward the next stages of their respective seasons.
All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
