OU is playing in a bowl game in two weeks, but all the attention is on the transfer portal. The day can be as boring and blah as can be and change in a second.

The Sooners took some hits in the portal as the window opened Monday. But now? It’s time for OU to get some guys.

Who might some of them be? Let’s break it all down. It’s time for the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop to talk all things transfer portal.

Do Brent Venables and company have a big trick up their sleeve in the days ahead?

Portal madness

OU saw a lot of guys say farewell in recent days. As Venables loved to say in years before, guys but not a lot of production.

It’s those tough decisions that he’s been talking about in the last month. They’re starting to happen and players have to find new homes.

But how about OU start to add some? Like a quarterback? Like maybe John Mateer? It continues to be a waiting game for the Sooners at quarterback and everywhere else.

OU is active, so that’s a good sign. The Sooners are making offers at wide receiver and offensive line and defensive line. That was inevitable after five receivers hit the portal in the last week. But again, it’s time for the hits.

That time? It should be now. OU is loading up for what feels like a pivotal transfer portal visitors weekend. Also, the bowl practices are getting going, and we’re going to have an idea of what sort of team OU can put out there against Navy in two weeks.
