OU is the place to be this weekend. Whether it’s for basketball or softball, Norman will be at the center of the college sports world.
And we’ll be there every step of the way. The Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop is back getting you geared up for what could be a monumental weekend in OU athletics.
The five-man crew (Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich, George Stoia) ready to break it all down regarding Sooners.
Love’s Field has arrived
Start with softball. OU is going to its new home this weekend. The opening of Love’s Field is not years or months or weeks away. It’s Friday afternoon.
The Sooners enter the weekend on a 67-game winning streak with the OU Tournament taking place. A credit to what Patty Gasso has done, to what the program has done, and now a new field.
The memories of years gone by and now the excitement of what’s to come. Also, um, the 2024 version of the Sooners aren’t too bad, either.
Top matchups on the hardwood
You know it’s a good week when the No. 3 team coming to the Lloyd Noble Center isn’t even the biggest story. The No. 3 Texas women take on No. 20 OU on Wednesday night.
The Sooners have a chance to clinch the Big 12 championship this week.
But on Saturday? The No. 1 team in the country is in town. Houston, led by former OU coach Kelvin Sampson, is back in Norman.
OU basketball is sitting comfortable at 19-8 overall and 7-7 in the Big 12, but this week’s gauntlet is borderline unfair. The Sooners are at No. 8 Iowa State on Wednesday and then welcomes the No. 1 Cougars.

OU football over/under?
It’s getting closer, for real. Closer and closer to OU spring football. And the biggest news right now is about the OU over/under win total for the 2024 season.
Examining it across the board and whether the Sooners can eclipse the 7.5 mark, and why it is set at 7.5 to begin with.
Will the NIL arms race be a factor in 2024? Teams like Missouri and Ole Miss make a leap? Or will Brent Venables and his relational mantra win the day?
All that and a whole lot more. Radosevich will recap the baseball happenings. OU heads to Las Vegas this weekend.
McCuistion has all the recruiting goodies, including thoughts on the latest 2025 On3 300 that was released earlier this week.
