You can say this about OU – it’s never a dull moment. Now it’s not all good, obviously, but it is certainly not boring with Brent Venables and Team 130.

It happened Sunday, but it feels like a lifetime ago about Venables firing Seth Littrell as the offensive coordinator and the play-caller.

It is time for the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop to break down all the moves. And maybe more importantly, will any of it matter?

OU offense about to make the leap?

You look at this offense, and all the injuries at wide receiver. The staggering inconsistent play among the offensive line. What, realistically, can Kevin Johns and Joe Jon Finley do?

Is it time to not necessarily pack it in for 2024, but maybe time to examine what OU might have for 2025 with some of its young guys?

The offensive line has been a mess. Honestly, could it be any worse if there were true freshmen growing and developing with each snap?

The search for the OU offense and offensive coordinator is on.

Stutsman standing strong

The offensive futility has obviously overshadowed what OU has tried to do defensively. And definitely taken any limelight away from linebacker Danny Stutsman.

He made the choice to return for this final season. Clearly, he didn’t see this type of humbling disappointment happening, but he’s still locked in.

Stutsman has at least five games left, and you know he is going to leave it all out there. This defense hasn’t wilted yet. Minor breaks here or there, but they’ve stood strong. A leader like Stutsman is exactly why.

Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting

Go through the struggles, you start looking at the recruiting class. Venables gave his message Tuesday afternoon. Is it being heard? Who, if anybody, is in danger of being poached? Tis the season ‘n all when it comes to recruiting flips.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
