One magical classic sandwiched between two of the worst OU showings ever in the Red River Rivalry. That’s the legacy right now for head coach Brent Venables.

A head-shaking, fist-making, questions-looming type of embarrassing loss, whipped 34-3 by No. 1 Texas on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl.

It’s not good. Period.

But the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop will attempt to make some sense of what is going on at OU. And, maybe more importantly, where exactly the Sooners go from here?

Because now? Yea, now is the time for that dreaded back half of the schedule that everybody has talked about.

Murdock summary:

The Sooners’ offense has become one of the most inept units in the country. And today’s 34-3 loss to Texas took things to a new low. With two weeks to prepare, the offensive staff laid an egg on the Cotton Bowl turf. Texas picked up those eggs and threw them at the OU defense, crushing their spirit with every three-and-out from Seth Littrell’s offense. Carey, Eddie and George convene to talk about what we saw today and how bad it really was.

The questions are being asked. Should Seth Littrell be relieved of playcalling duties? Will/should he be fired? Should OU go back to Jackson Arnold after seeing what Michael Hawkins did today? We break it all down from our perspective. And how responsible is Brent Venables in all of this? How much are the players responsible? One thing we do know. Texas has more explosive players at several positions. More than the Sooners might have even when healthy. How did this happen? Where does OU go next? What happens the rest of this season?
