SoonerScoop postgame podcast: OU guts one out vs. Auburn, now 4-0

Take a breath, OU fans, and celebrate just a little. That’s what the SEC is going to be like for the Sooners in 2025.
It is going to be a wild ride, but one that OU fans might enjoy being on the rest of the way. An electric SEC opener that saw OU outlast visiting Auburn 24-17 on Saturday afternoon.
Wasn’t always pretty or efficient, but it was everything that championship-type teams try to show. In the final seven minutes? OU was at its best.
And for dang-near the whole game, the OU defense was at its best. Add it all up? A program-record 10 sacks to go with 14 tackles for loss. Give credit, too, to former OU quarterback Jackson Arnold. He kept coming back every single time, no matter how much he was getting destroyed the previous play. Two very tough teams.
Game wasn’t without its controversy, either. No matter how you slice it, though, Brent Venables and Team 131 are 4-0 for the second time in his four seasons.

Let’s talk about it all, the good, bad, confusing. Time for the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop.
Murdock summary:
Oklahoma’s matchup with Auburn was expected to be a difficult one. Some may have believed the Sooners might be able to blow out Auburn during Jackson Arnold’s return to Norman. But Arnold was a gamer, and the OU rushing attack couldn’t find room to run against the Auburn defense. But in the end, John Mateer made enough plays to complement the Sooners dominant defensive effort for a 24-17 win. The 4-0 Sooners now head into a bye week, but not before we break down everything we saw on Saturday afternoon on Owen Field.
All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop.
