OU fans definitely did not recognize that team. Everybody knew there would be growing pains with quarterback Jackson Arnold and the offense finding its footing but that? Ouch.

OU did manage to somehow do just enough to squeak out a 16-12 victory against visiting Houston on Saturday night. A win that felt like a loss and a win where the head coach said they deserved to lose.

“I appreciate our players, their strain and their fight in the end to figure out a way to win,” head coach Brent Venables said. “I’m disappointed in a lot of things that we did today. Did enough things wrong to where we deserved to lose, and (we’re) fortunate to find a way to win.

“Really thought the field position, Luke Elzinga was fantastic. I come into here for the press conference, and I’m bragging on our punter, but he deserves it. He had eight punts, and two were inside the 5, three were inside the 10. That was a big part of the game in a field-position game.”

It’s time for the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast to break it all down.
