SoonerScoop Sights & Sounds: OU 31, BYU 24
OU wasn’t good for 60 minutes at BYU last weekend. But when the Sooners needed a play to be made on offense and defense, they made it.
That’s something, hopefully, can use for some confidence down the stretch. OU earned the 31-24 victory in Provo, keeping alive its chances to play in the Big 12 championship.
“The defense continued to fight,” head coach Brent Venables said. “You know, they’ve played pretty dang good on the season, so this is one of those moments where if they’re not prepared for the worst-case scenario mentally and physically, if they don’t have good leadership, things can go south there in the second half. Just can get pretty splintered, and that’s not how they responded.
“They responded like you would want them too, like a champion would do. A group of guys that are highly, highly invested. They care about each other. They care about their opportunity. And they care about their product they put on the field. They took ownership and figured stuff out there in the second half.”
Whether it was Billy Bowman on defense or Jackson Arnold on offense, those type of clutch plays just bring a team together more and more. OU and Team 129 still feel as connected as ever.

The Sooners have won back-to-back games and need to move on quickly with the short week ahead. TCU comes to Norman to finish off the regular season Friday morning.
Before the Frogs come to town, a last look at the day that was at BYU. Here are the Sights & Sounds from SoonerScoop video editor Eddie Radosevich.
OU needs help in order to reach Arlington. But the Sooners wouldn’t even be in the picture if they hadn’t been able to dig down deep and come up big to move to 9-2 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12.
