SoonerScoop Sights & Sounds: OU 77, West Virginia 63
You could hear that sigh of relief from OU basketball fans. OK, put that two-game skid to bed, and let’s get rolling again.
We’ll see about the second part, but the first part was mission accomplished. A sluggish start, but the Sooners figured it out in a 77-63 victory against West Virginia on Wednesday at the Lloyd Noble Center.
OU trailed 18-12 before waking up, for lack of a better term, and taking care of business.
“It’s huge,” head coach Porter Moser said. “You’ve got to take one at a time. You’ve got to log in, got to win it, put it in the bank and go back the next night. Every night, this is going to be insane watching these standings. We needed a win tonight to stop the bleeding. We know we’re going to Cincinnati, which got a huge win beating TCU the other night. They played on Tuesday. That’s another topic about the way they schedule this stuff. That’s a whole ‘nother issue.
“We’ve got to get a rest. We’ve got to come back tomorrow and talk about Cincinnati. They’re an outstanding team, they’ve got a great venue, great fans, and we’ve got to be really physical and get ready for them Saturday.”
Look at the standings. They are ridiculous and will remain that way the rest of the season. Ten of the 14 teams are 2-2 or better. But there are now zero undefeated teams in league play, with Baylor and Texas Tech both losing mid-week games.

Zero.
Strangely enough, OU’s win vs. WVU hurt itself in the NET rankings more than anything. The Sooners dropped from No. 22 to No. 26 just because WVU has no value right now.
That won’t matter in the long run, and you could argue it means absolutely nothing in the short, either. The win, the bounce back, all of that was necessary. All of that was checked off.
OU is at Cincinnati on Saturday, two of the seven 2-2 teams in the Big 12.
The Moore Dunk
And the Jalon Moore dunk with OU trailing 18-14? Oh, it meant something. The whole tide of the game and energy of the arena changed.
“Yes sir, I definitely notice it,” Moore told SoonerScoop. “It turns me up. It turns my team up, so, shoot, if it gets us going, I definitely notice that. And it helped us.”
Here is SoonerScoop video editor Eddie Radosevich with the Sights & Sounds from OU’s victory.
