SoonerScoop video reaction: OU makes the offensive change
A lot of OU fans were waiting for this move following last week’s terrible offensive performance against Texas.
Head coach Brent Venables stuck with the staff, stuck with the plan. Even went as far to say during his weekly press conference he didn’t plan on making changes.
But plans have to be altered. And Saturday necessitated such a move. Seth Littrell is out as the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley is now going to be making the calls. And senior offensive analyst Kevin Johns is being bumped up to co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Whew, take a breath. After a 34-3 loss to Texas last week and a humbling 35-9 defeat to visiting South Carolina, the change is here.

And now it’s time for SoonerScoop to take the deep dive. It was Scoop that broke the news Sunday evening. OU and Venables then sent out a press release Sunday night to confirm all the changes.
They’ve been there every step of the way, and they’re here again. Time for SoonerScoop’s Eddie Radosevich and George Stoia to guide you through the process. How we got here? Where OU goes from here? What does 2025 and beyond look like?
It’s time for a bonus instant reaction.
Is Venables involved in the offense?
“Again, I have been. I sit in the staff meetings. I sit in a bunch of different position meetings. I’m certainly still involved with the defense, as well. I spend time on the defensive field. I spend time on the offensive field. Who knows what it would’ve been, but take care of the ball better you give yourselves a chance. We went toe to toe a week ago with Texas when we were doing things we need to do. We still weren’t moving the ball like we need to. We weren’t able to sustain drives like we need to. But giving ourselves a chance to win. Today, we didn’t give ourselves a chance.” – Venables
