Utah State DL Phillip Paea transferring to Oklahoma
Oklahoma has added another defensive lineman in the transfer portal.
Utah State’s Phillip Paea announced Saturday that he’s transferring to Oklahoma. This is the second day in a row the Sooners have landed a defensive lineman in the portal after Tennessee’s Da’Jon Terry announced his decision to transfer to Norman on Friday.
Paea spent the past two seasons at Utah State where he played in 17 games, totaling 16 tackles and two tackles for loss. He missed most of the 2022 season after suffering an injury in the third game of the season. Prior to Utah State, Paea spent four years at Michigan and appeared in three games. He was a four-star recruit out of high school and was recruited by most to play interior offensive line, but made the switch to defense his junior year at Michigan.
While Paea lacks experience, he does have the size to contribute immediately at Oklahoma. At 6-foot-4, 305 pounds, he will be one of OU’s largest defensive linemen. He is now the ninth defensive player Oklahoma has added in the portal following the 2022 season.
