Oklahoma is just nine days away from the 2023 season.

The Sooners will finish up their fall camp schedule this coming weekend, as they started school Aug. 21. Soon, Oklahoma will be game prepping for its season opener against Arkansas State on Sept. 2. SoonerScoop.com’s Eddie Radosevich and George Stoia sat down to share their takeaways from this week’s media session with offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby and several players.

Lebby spoke Tuesday about how his side of the ball has performed in fall camp and what he expects next Saturday.

“There’s been a lot of good,” Lebby said. “There’s been plenty that we’re continuing to work through and fix and just continuing to try and create depth at every single position. I do like where we’re at, I like our guys’ effort and their attitude and their toughness. We’ve gotta continue to get better. I think our guys understand that as we work towards next Saturday.”

The media also heard from Oklahoma offensive lineman Savion Byrd, who spoke about how the offensive line has come together.

“We’re not embarrassed to love one another,” Byrd said. “We have genuine love for one another. We’ll correct one of us if we’re wrong in a situation. It’s never dirt. Like we just hold each other accountable. It really shows. We hold ourselves to a standard, coach B holds us to a standard and we like to hold ourselves to that standard so anything that’s wrong, we like to pinpoint that.”

And lastly, fifth-year senior Marcus Major spoke about his final season at Oklahoma and his goal to stay healthy.

“That’s the only thing, man,” Major said. “I’m so focused on that. Just taking care of me so much. So after we get done with this, I’m hopping straight in the cold tub. Just recovering from everything from today and like I said, just take it easy.”
