Video: SEC Network's Dari Nowkhah says Oklahoma fans will love SEC
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – SoonerScoop.com has taken over SEC Media Days, looking to find out if Oklahoma is ready to play in college football’s toughest conference.
Oklahoma and Texas are set to join the Southeastern Conference in 2024, following their final season in the Big 12. The Sooners and Longhorns are changing the landscape of college football. And that’s all the buzz at SEC Media Days this week. Scoop caught up with several national media members asking their thoughts on Oklahoma’s future in the SEC, expectations for the 2023 season, and impressions of coach Brent Venables as he enters his second season in Norman. Most of the media agreed Oklahoma will be ready for the move, but have some concerns about the direction of the program heading into Year 2 under Venables. It’s clear, the 2023 season will be pivotal for the Sooners. And there was plenty of talk about the fanbase and if they’re “SEC Ready” off the field.
Dari Nowkhah of SEC Network spoke with Scoop and is high on Oklahoma in 2023 and excited for their future. That might be because Nowkhah is an Oklahoma graduate, earning his bachelor’s degree from OU in 1998. Nowkhah has been covering the SEC for ESPN since 2014. The Tulsa native had only positive things to say about Oklahoma and can’t wait to cover the Sooners. He’s especially excited for the fanbase and believes Sooner Nation will fit right in in the SEC.

“I think OU brings an absolute perfect fit,” Nowkhah told SoonerScoop.com’s George Stoia. “They’re going to bring a great brand, a great tradition, a great history, a great fanbase. And I’m not just saying that from an OU perspective. Everybody in this league — is excited to have them in.”
