Oklahoma is just 15 days away from the 2023 season.

The Sooners will finish up their fall camp schedule this coming weekend, as they start school Aug. 21. Soon, Oklahoma will be game prepping for its season opener against Arkansas State on Sept. 2. SoonerScoop.com’s Eddie Radosevich and George Stoia sat down to share their takeaways from fall camp and to talk a little recruiting, after watching a few of OU’s top targets this week.

One position group that impressed Radosevich and Stoia this fall camp was the offensive line. Despite losing both their starting tackles to the NFL, the Sooners appear to have a solid starting five up front.

“The offensive line, man, they’re really coming along,” coach Brent Venables said. “I like that group of guys.”

Another group is the wide receivers. While that’s a position that entered fall camp with most question marks, it sounds like several guys have emerged as consistent contributors.

“We have plenty of explosive athletes,” Venables said of the wide receiver room.

The one group Radosevich and Stoia have concerns about after fall camp are the tight ends. Oklahoma has little depth at tight end, but Venables is confident guys will step up.

“It’s coming along, you know, well with obviously Stog’s done a great job,” Venables said. “You know, Blake and Mack (Kade McIntyre), Hamp(ton Fay) — those guys, in particular, are guys who have gotten most of the reps. They’ve done well, really well. That’s a group that’s continued to evolve and improve and getting better.”

Radosevich and Stoia also talked about the high school scrimmages they watched Thursday night. SoonerScoop.com saw Carl Albert, Heritage Hall, Tulsa Union, and Lee’s Summit North, among others, and spoke with several OU targets. And the two finished the show by talking about how much Oklahoma is paying for its non-conference opponents in 2023.
