A final look at what was a busy, preseason-opening week for Ole Miss football
Ole Miss this week opened preseason practices in advance of the 2023 season. The Rebels on Saturday put on some pads for the first time. They’ll practice pretty much daily for the next few weeks before kicking off their season against Mercer September 2.
The Rebels are widely ranked in the 15-20 range in preseason Top 25 polls. They’re in search of their fourth straight trip to the postseason and had an 8-5 record last season.

Ole Miss returns three starters on defense and seven on offense, including the SEC’s leading rusher in sophomore running back Quinshon Judkins. Judkins finished Top 10 nationally in rushing yards (1,567), rushing touchdowns (16) and total touchdowns (17) last season. He set a new single-season Rebel record for rushing yards.
The Rebels also brought in a large transfer class ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation by media outlets. All but three of the some 30 transfers are on campus, enrolled in classes and going through camp. The Rebels are waiting on Jam Griffin (RB, Oregon State), Chris Graves (DB, Miami of Florida) and TJ Dudley (LB, Clemson). They all committed this week.
Let’s take a look back at the week that was in Ole Miss football.
