Another One: Ole Miss' Quinshon Judkins lands on Doak Walker Award preseason watch list
The trophy case is already full for Quinshon Judkins after one season in college football but if the Ole Miss running back earned trophies for preseason watch lists he would need to build a second one quickly.
The sophomore was named to the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list on Wednesday, putting Judkins on his second national award watch list in 10 days. He was named to the Maxwell Award watch list on July 31.
Judkins is one of 75 running backs named to the watch list by the SMU Athletic Forum and one of seven Southeastern Conference running backs. The reigning and defending SEC rushing title holder is joined by conference peers Noah Cain (LSU), Jo’Quavious Marks (Mississippi State), Raheim Sanders (Arkansas), Jabari Small (Tennessee), Josh Williams (LSU) and Jaylen Wright, Jr. (Tennessee).
Preseason praise and accolades continue to roll in for Judkins after his breakout freshman season, earning himself All-American honors and Preseason All-SEC First Team distinctions by several outlets and by members of the SEC media.
Since July 31 seven Ole Miss players have been named to six different preseason watch lists of national awards. Joining Judkins is offensive lineman Micah Pettus (Outland Trophy); Caden Prieskorn and Michael Trigg (Mackey Award); JJ Pegues (Wuerffel Trophy); Zakhari Franklin and Tre Harris (Biletnikoff Award).

The Doak Walker award is presented annually to the top running back in college football. University athletic departments nominate candidates for the award and can continue to do so through October.
The award is named for SMU’s three-time All-America running back Doak Walker. It is the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.
The recipient of the 2023 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 7.
