Arkansas' Jaylon Braxton (11) celebrates a defensive play in the first half of the college football game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Arkansas Razorbacks at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.,, Saturday, Sept., 7, 2024.

On Friday, Arkansas cornerback Jaylon Braxton committed and signed with Ole Miss, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. He took an official visit to Oxford earlier in the week and was also considering Missouri and Texas A&M.

OMSpirit spoke with the 6-foot, 190 pound transfer after his visit. The former four-star prospect from Lone Star (Tex.) said Ole Miss linebacker Pooh Paul was “recruiting him hard”. Furthermore, prior to leaving Oxford, Miss., he said he his official visit to Ole Miss was a hit.

“It was great,” Braxton said. “I loved it.”

Jaylon Braxton earned freshman All-SEC honors, playing in nine games with six starts in 2023.

He also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after a big game against Florida, forcing a fumble and returning it 33 yards for a touchdown to go along with a season-best four tackles. He also picked off his first pass against Auburn on November 11th, adding three tackles.

Despite injuries this season which limited him, several suitors recognized the ability and were recruiting him as an instant impact transfer. Ole Miss will be looking to replace Trey Amos in 2025. Braxton could very well step right in and contribute.

Prior to the injury this season, Braxton graded out at 77.9 overall and 80.7 in coverage last season, per Pro Football Focus.

Ole Miss is not only losing Amos, but also John Saunders, Trey Washington and Brandon Turnage on the back end. Braxton brings experience and playmaking ability, something Ole Miss needs for 2025.
