‘Best team (Lane) Kiffin’s had’: Ole Miss football is a week into preseason camp
SEC media widely picked Georgia to win the league in 2024-25.
But the Bulldogs — winners of two out of the last three national championships — will have to go through Ole Miss to do it.
Twice, actually, according to a prediction last week from On3 national college football analyst JD PicKell.
“Ole Miss, best team (fifth-year head coach Lane) Kiffin’s had, I believe,” PicKell began. “I don’t think that’s a stretch. I think (Georgia) ends up finding their way into the SEC title game. They’ll play their best football in November and peak at the right time.
“Now, who do they meet in Atlanta? Is it Texas? Is it ‘Bama? I could see that. But you know who I actually see in the SEC title game? Ole Miss just chilling there with one loss.”

Ole Miss won a program-record 11 games last season.
The Rebels return a significant chunk of that team, including third-year starting quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart is a preseason candidate for the Heisman Trophy, the sport’s highest individual award.
Ole Miss also signed a Top 20 high-school recruiting class and pulled in the No. 3 overall portal haul in the country. Among the headliners were Walter Nolen (defensive tackle, Texas A&M), Princely Umanmielen (EDGE, Florida) and Antwane ‘Juice’ Wells (wide receiver, South Carolina).

The Rebels open against Furman August 31. The College Football Playoff is expanding to 12 teams. The Rebels have been ranked inside the Top 10 in each of the last three years.
“I think they only lose to Georgia and find themselves in a rematch in the conference title game,” PicKell said.
The Rebels wrapped the first week of preseason camp with a closed practice on Saturday. The included photos were provided by Ole Miss Athletics.
