Blitz, Khari, Blitz! Ole Miss star rusher Coleman details need for speed in the ‘Ivey League’
Khari Coleman is listed as a linebacker on the official Ole Miss football roster.
A more accurate description of his role would probably be pass-rusher, and not just situationally (third downs, etc.), either.
Yes, he drops into coverage; linebackers oftentimes are required to. He’s also comfortable enough with his sideline-to-sideline responsibilities. But Coleman relishes the chances when he gets to put his hands back down in the dirt and face off with an offensive lineman. He feels free.
He feels himself.
“I love blitzing, especially the interior, because guards can’t move like the tackles can move,” Coleman said. “That’s fun. I just love going against the offensive line, one-on-one.”
Coleman transferred to Ole Miss from TCU two years ago. He’s since appeared in 24 games and was honorable mention All-SEC last season. Coleman became the third Rebel since 1999 to record 5.0 tackles for loss in a single game in his Ole Miss debut against Troy in 2022.
“I have a little bit of film of me on YouTube doing one-on-ones (DL-OL drills) at camps,” Coleman said. “You can see it’s something I love to do. I love setting them up and beating them. I love pass-rushing. It’s why I love blitzing so much; it’s just a pass rush.”

Coleman is next up in the ‘Ivey League,’ a podcast hosted by his Rebel teammate, Jared Ivey.
Ivey is a third-year starting defensive lineman for Ole Miss, which opens the 2024-25 season against Furman August 31. The Rebels are in their second week of preseason camp.
