Who knew that this past Saturday in Fayetteville would be the get-right game Ole Miss needed? Many thought Oklahoma would be it, but there were still some question marks. But then the Rebels decimated the Razorbacks, on the road, in a Southeastern Conference showdown.

Two straight SEC wins as a bounce-back from the loss to LSU in overtime cures all and the mood is high in Oxford this week ahead of what is once again a major game with No. 2 Georgia coming to town.

Of course, a win over the Bulldogs puts No. 16 Ole Miss back into the College Football Playoffs mix, but for now the postseason outlook is still pedestrian. Two SEC losses will do that even with the expanded 12-team CFP format this year.

The Rebels had a mountain to climb again starting October 12 and so far have made the first two steps of that journey. Saturday’s is the biggest step of them all.

So where does a 7-2 Ole Miss team (3-2 in SEC play) fall in the bowl projections after Week 10? Still in some familiar destinations.

A trip to Florida still is the popular pick by prognosticators, specifically Tampa but Jacksonville has entered the conversation this week. Then Las Vegas is still lurking in the shadows, according to a couple outlets.

The ReliaQuest Bowl, Gator Bowl or even the Las Vegas Bowl would be major disappointments with what the preseason expectations were for this football team. Saturday can erase the board and Ole Miss start anew with a win, but it must do the work.
