Bracket Watch: No. 23 Ole Miss just outside of hosting as it prepares to host No. 9 Vanderbilt

Same as for the first six weekends of Southeastern Play this week is another important one for No. 23 Ole Miss.
The Rebels (29-12, 10-8 SEC) are riding a two-game win streak after salvaging a game at South Carolina last Saturday and then the extra-inning comeback win over Mississippi State at Pearl on Tuesday.
A nice bounce-back after going 1-3 last week, including the loss to Little Rock and dropping the series against the Gamecocks. That did not do Ole Miss many favors, dropping them out of the Top 20 and this week’s latest NCAA Tournament projections also took a hit.
In both D1Baseball and Baseball America the Rebels are currently out of the hosting picture and projected to be a 2 Seed in the Conway, South Carolina Regional. Both outlets also have host Coastal Carolina as the 12 National Seed and paired with 5 National Seed Tennessee (Knoxville Regional).

That is where the similarities end, though. The outlets disagree on which two other teams would join Rebels and Chanticleers.
D1Baseball has Duke as the 3 Seed and UNC Greensboro the 4 Seed of the Conway Regional. The other two teams in Baseball America’s projections are Miami (3) and High Point (4).
Ole Miss turns it attention to No. 9 Vanderbilt (30-11, 11-7) which comes to Oxford this weekend. Another good RPI and résumé opportunity for the Rebels which are sitting at 16 in the latest RPI rankings. The Commodores are No. 4 in the RPI.
“We’ll enjoy this one, enjoy when we get home late tonight, have an off day (on Wednesday), get a good practice in for Thursday then get ready for the Commodores,” Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said after Tuesday’s win.
First pitch for Ole Miss and Vanderbilt set for 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday, airing on SEC Network+.
