This weekend marks the halfway point of the Southeastern Conference schedule and No. 6 Ole Miss is sitting in a position its not been in for quite some time.

After last week’s third straight SEC series win, second road series win, taking two of three at Kentucky the Rebels continue to bolster its chances at hosting in this year’s NCAA Tournament, starting next month.

The latest projections for the field of 64 continue to have Ole Miss (25-7, 8-4 SEC) among the 16 National Seed teams. A new one from Baseball America is even putting a potential Oxford Super Regional in play.

On Wednesday Baseball America released its latest Field of 64, moving the Rebels up to the 7 National Seed and on the good side of being able to host a Super Regional if it got through the Oxford Regional.

Joining Ole Miss in this projected Oxford Regional field would be Arizona State (2 Seed), Northeastern (3) and George Mason (4). Paired with this Regional would be the Corvallis Regional and 10 National Seed Oregon State.

Of course, there are six more weeks of SEC play to go starting with No. 5 Tennessee coming to Oxford-University Stadium this week. Plus the SEC Tournament in Hoover next month before Selection Monday on Memorial Day. Though, it is reaffirming that Ole Miss has turned its baseball program around in a season where was a must.

In other projections the Rebels are still National Seeds but a Super Regional is not in the crystal ball of D1Baseball and On3, yet.

Jonathan Wagner of On3 projects Ole Miss as the 9 National Seed, just outside of hosting a Super Regional, but still paired with the 8 National Seed Beavers and the Corvallis Regional.

Last week D1Baseball released its midseason Field of 64 projections, putting Ole Miss as the 15 National Seed and paired with 2 National Seed Arkansas and the Fayetteville Regional. Of course, this was before the Razorbacks moved up to No. 1 after their sweep of Missouri and before the Rebels moved up to No. 6 in the D1Baseball rankings, so if it did one this week those projections might change.

With a month and a half remaining of the regular season a lot more can, and will, happen but for now Ole Miss is on the right path to get back to the NCAA Tournament.
