Heading into the final week of the regular season for men’s basketball Ole Miss is in the NCAA Tournament field. Now the only wondering is where will they end up come Selection Sunday on March 16.

The Rebels (20-9, 9-7) host No. 4 Tennessee on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT for the final game inside the SJB Pavilion of the season before heading to No. 5 Florida on Saturday for the final postseason tuneup. These two games are major chances not only to try and better their positioning for next week’s SEC Tournament in Nashville, if possible, but also to try and get back up the seed chart after scuffling down it to close out February.

Losers of three of their last four games Ole Miss is currently hovering between the edge of the upper half of the Field of 68 and and right smack in the middle. The latest ‘Bracketology’ updates this week reflect this.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released is penultimate NCAA Tournament projections of the regular season on Tuesday, putting the Rebels as the 8 Seed in the Midwest Region (Indianapolis). Ole Miss would play 9 Seed Gonzaga in the first round in Wichita, Kansas if Lundardi’s projections hold true. A potential second round matchup with 1 Seed Houston or 16 Seed Omaha would await.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports is a tad more bullish on the Rebels, putting them as the 6 Seed of the South Region (Atlanta) and starting the NCAA Tournament in Providence, Rhode Island. They would play 11 Seed VCU in the first round and a potential second round matchup against either 3 Seed St John’s or 14 Seed Towson.

This week is the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina and the Rebels are heading East with momentum.

After beating No. 7 LSU in Baton Rouge on Sunday Ole Miss has moved back into one of the top four hosting seeds, according to ESPN’s Charlie Creme.

That is reflected in Creme’s latest ‘Bracketology’ update on Monday ahead of the major conference tournaments starting. The Rebels are the 4 Seed of Region 1 Birmingham and that would mean Oxford would have NCAA Tournament basketball for the first time in 31 years.

Rounding out the Oxford quadrant is 13 Seed Florida Gulf Coast, which would play Ole Miss in the first round, 5 Seed Ohio State and 12 Seed Fairfield. After the Rebels SEC Tournament run ends this week they will have a week of waiting before finding out their NCAA Tournament destination on Selection Sunday with the men’s bracket.

The Rebels are the 7 Seed of this week’s SEC Tournament, getting a first round bye into the quarterfinals. They will play the winner between 10 Seed Mississippi State and 15 Seed Missouri on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT. If Ole Miss advances to Friday’s semifinals they would play 2 Seed Texas at the same time.
