Bracket Watch: Ole Miss men's basketball gets bump, stays steady in new 'Bracketology'

Another Top 15 win for the Ole Miss men’s basketball team this season continues bolster the trend of it ending its five-year NCAA Tournament drought.
The Rebels knocked off No. 14 Kentucky on Tuesday in its bounce-back from the loss to No. 1 Auburn last Saturday.
Friday brought a fresh set of NCAA Tournament projections and ‘Bracketology,’ showing No. 25 Ole Miss staying steady in its standing. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Rebels as the 5 Seed in the Midwest Region (Indianapolis).
Lunardi has Ole Miss (17-6, 6-4 Southeastern Conference) spending the first and second round in Seattle, playing 12 Seed UC Irvine. A potential second round matchup of 4 Seed Arizona or 13 Seed Akron would await in the Round of 32.
Jerry Palm of CBS Sports updated his projections on Friday and had the Rebels as the 4 Seed of the South Region (Atlanta), playing 13 Seed Akron in the first round in Providence, Rhode Island. A second round matchup of either 5 Seed Michigan or 12 Seed winner out of the First Four would await them.

Ole Miss women’s team drops after loss
Thursday’s late-game collapse against No. 15 Oklahoma handed the Ole Miss women’s team a tough SEC loss after going 2-0 on the road last week to get back on track.
With the defeat ESPN’s Charlie Creme still has the Rebels (15-7, 6-4) firmly in the Field of 68 but after having them as a 4 Seed on Tuesday, hosting the first and second rounds of the tournament, he bumped them down a spot to the 5 Seed in Region 2 Birmingham. They would play in Raleigh, North Carolina against 12 Seed James Madison.
Metrics are also still good for Ole Miss. While they were a program-high No. 11 entering Thursday’s game the Rebels dropped three spots to No. 14 in Friday’s NET update.
Monday’s game against No. 11 Kentucky (19-2, 8-1) at the SJB Pavilion at 6 p.m. CT presents another opportunity to bolster the resume.
