By the end of Sunday the Ole Miss basketball program will have made history and also learned where the men’s and women’s teams are starting there NCAA Tournament journeys next week.

Selection Sunday is here and for the first time both Ole Miss teams are playing in their respective NCAA Tournaments in the same season. For the men’s team it will be their 10th time and for the women’s team it will be 20th time and fourth straight year reaching the dance.

Chris Beard has guided the Rebels back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 in his second season as head coach. That will be made official once he sees Ole Miss on the screen during the selection show.

Beard and his team will be at Funky’s for the official watch party. The show starts at 5 p.m. CT on CBS.

But where will they be going and which team will they face? Still to be determined but Sunday morning brought final ‘Bracketology’ projections ahead of conference tournament championship games.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has moved Ole Miss between a 5 Seed and 7 Seed all week but he currently has it as a 6 Seed in the East Region (Newark, New Jersey). The Rebels would play 11 Seed VCU in Providence, Rhode Island in the first round. A potential second round matchup would be against the winner of 3 Seed Iowa State and 14 Seed UNC Wilmington.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has the Rebels as the 5 Seed in the West Region (San Francisco). They would play 12 Seed Liberty in Denver in the first round along with 4 Seed Maryland and 13 Seed High Point.

If they were to reach their first Sweet 16 in 24 years a potential matchup against 1 Seed Florida awaits.

According to On3’s James Fletcher III the Rebels are a 6 Seed in the East Region.

The Ole Miss women could be starting their postseason much closer to home than the men will be.

A goal for head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin in her seventh season was to have the Rebels playing inside the SJB Pavilion as first and second round hosts.

While McCuin lost hope in that goal midway through the season, her players did not, and it might be a goal realized come Sunday night. ESPN’s Charlie Creme has had Ole Miss back as a 4 Seed since beating LSU in Baton Rouge to close out the regular season.

If Creme’s projection comes true it will be the first time in 31 years that Oxford has hosted NCAA Tournament games.

Sunday’s latest update by Creme has the Rebels in Region 3 Spokane and playing 13 Seed South Florida. The two other teams projected to be in Oxford next weekend are 5 Seed Kansas State and 12 Seed Florida Gulf Coast.

Advancing to the second Sweet 16 in three years would mean the Rebels might have a potential rematch of their season opener against Southern California base on Creme’s projections.

Ole Miss will host a watch party at the Pavilion, starting at 6 p.m. CT. The selection show begins at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.
