The weekend at Missouri was not great for the Ole Miss baseball team overall but catcher Calvin Harris made it one to remember, personally.

Not only did ESPN and SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays take notice but so did the Southeastern Conference, naming Harris Co-Player of the Week after a record-setting weekend at the plate.

For a second straight week an Ole Miss player earned a weekly honor from the league office. Grayson Saunier was named Freshman of the Week last week.

For those who may not know yet, or just want to read this impressive feat again, Harris powered Ole Miss to a 20-14 win over the Tigers in Saturday’s series finale with the help of four home runs. No other Rebel in program history has accomplished that feat in a single-game.

Harris now owns the record all to himself after six previous Rebels were tied in the record book with three-home run games of their own in program history.

“Obviously that was good, but to get out here and bounce back from the past two days was the most important thing for us,” Harris said to Brad Henderson of the Ole Miss Radio Network after Saturday’s game.

The four home runs recorded 10 runs batted in, including scoring himself four times. Harris accrued 16 total bases in the win that salvaged the series for Ole Miss after dropping the first two games on the weekend.

Including last Tuesday’s annual Kids’ Day game against Little Rock Harris hit .471 (8-for-17) with five home runs, a triple, 13 RBIs and nine runs scored over four games last week. He led the SEC in runs scored, RBI, and home runs and was second in total bases on the week.

Harris shares the league’s weekly honor with Missouri’s Luke Man who also hit five home runs over four games for the Tigers. The two players combined for 10 home runs, 25 RBI, 16 runs scored, and 52 total bases on the week.

Ole Miss (25-23, 6-18 SEC) returns to Oxford-University Stadium on Thursday for its final home weekend series of the season, hosting Auburn (27-19, 11-13).
