Calvin Harris selected by the Chicago White Sox in the fourth round of MLB Draft

For a second time in less than 24 hours the Chicago White Sox drafted an Ole Miss player. During day two of the MLB First Year Player Draft the White Sox selected Calvin Harris in the fourth round as the 116th overall pick. The slot value is $574.6K
Harris was the White Sox fourth pick of the draft and came roughly 20 hours after Jacob Gonzalez became the organization’s first pick. The shortstop was the 15th overall pick.

Harris used the 2022 season plus a strong summer showing to boost his draft profile and raise his stock. The former Ole Miss catcher was ranked by MLB.com as the 133rd best prospect entering the draft and was taken 27 spots higher.
All three of the Ole Miss players who have been drafted went higher than their prospect ranking with Gonzalez going three spots higher and Kemp Alderman went eight spots better than his ranking.
Starting all 54 games this season Harris led Ole Miss in runs scored with 52. He was second on the team in slugging percentage (.579), hits (67), home runs (12), doubles (14), and total bases (121) and finished third on the team in batting average (.321), on-base percentage (.398), and RBIs (46).

Midway through the second day of the draft Ole Miss has made out as well as it could expect.
Losing Gonzalez, Alderman and Harris were a given and not considered losses for the 2024 season.
When it comes to the high school signees Ole Miss to an expected hit, but still a hit nonetheless, with pitchers Josh Knoth and Zander Mueth being selected towards the end of day one on Sunday.
The Milwaukee Brewers selected Knoth as the 33rd overall pick while the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Mueth as the 67th overall pick. Look for both to be minor league bound.
In the sixth round on Monday the Brewers also selected Cooper Pratt, which puts the shortstop in a potential decision-making situation. The slot value is around $307K.
