Second-year Ole Miss wide receiver Cayden Lee was generating preseason buzz for his breakout potential.
He’s more than lived up to the hype.
No. 11 Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 SEC) is off this week before returning at Florida Saturday, November 23. Lee is No. 6 in the SEC in receiving yards (696) entering Week 12.
Leading the way is star Ole Miss receiver Tre Harris (987) — despite Harris having missed multiple games due to injury.
“For me, in my first year, just stay consistent is what I kept telling myself,” Lee told the Spirit exclusively this week. “When my opportunity came and showed itself I had to be ready. Getting extra work in after practice, trusting my training and staying consistent was the biggest thing I felt I needed to stay focused on.
“This year, I feel like that’s what I’m doing a good job of. Just got to keep going forward. It’s been a really good year for us overall as a football team. I feel like we’re trending upwards. We gotta keep it rolling.”

“Personally, I’d say the two losses made us more of a team,” Lee said. “Let’s just say we were undefeated; I don’t know if we’d be as much of a team as we are now.
“We had to really just lean on one another (and) pick one another up. That forms more of a brotherhood that can only be faced and come up through adversity. That’s why we are where we are right now.”
