Chris Beard finalizes his first-year staff at Ole Miss
Chris Beard has his people his place for his first season at Ole Miss after finalizing his staff this week.
The first-year Rebels head coach announced his full staff, both on and off the court, on Wednesday. A total of nine people will make up Beard’s staff.
There were not many surprises to the announcement as The Ole Miss Spirit has been on Beard’s staff development since the spring but it does provide some confirmation to names that have been floated around, talked to or seen in Oxford.
Beard has been high on Win Case since coming to Ole Miss in March and even told The Spirit as much in an exclusive interview last month. On Wednesday that was proven as Case was named Special Assistant to the Coach.
Case was a stabilizing presence for Beard after his hiring as the former served as the acting head coach the final weeks of last season and throughout the last four months.
“Win’s a winner. Win’s an elite coach,” Beard told The Spirit. “I’ve known Win for decades. …Win’s also a great person. High character. He impact’s the player’s lives. He’s a great role model. He’s a truth teller. He’s a positive guy. He brings great energy every day. So you know, we’re pleased to have Win in the organization. And we believe it’ll impact winning.”
As for the one-the-court staff Beard announced Wes Flanigan, Al Pinkins and Bob Donewald, Jr. as assistant coaches.
Pinkins has been with Beard at Ole Miss since the spring after the two were spotted at a football practice. Flanigan came to Oxford a couple months later and Donewald is the final piece of the puzzle and making his third stint on a Beard staff.
