College Football Playoffs: Did Ole Miss get a big bump for win over Georgia in latest rankings?
Ole Miss got itself back in the College Football Playoff conversation on Saturday with its win over Georgia, its third straight Southeastern Conference win since losing to LSU in overtime last month.
The question, though, was how much did it help the Rebels CFP résumé and how close to the top 12 would they get.
Turns out the win over the former No. 3 team in last week’s rankings carried a lot of weight as Ole Miss moved up five spots to No. 11 in Tuesday’s second batch of rankings this season.
Going off this week’s rankings and bracket the Rebels would travel to No. 4 Penn State for a first round game on either Dec. 20 or 21. The winner would play 3 Seed BYU, who is actually ranked No. 6 but is a current leader of the Big 12 and gets a first round bye.
