Murray State’s Dom Decker becomes eighth transfer addition for Ole Miss baseball

Ole Miss baseball has spent weeks scouring the transfer market for a middle infielder.
The Rebels officially addressed the need Sunday with the commitment of Murray State’s Dom Decker.
Decker got into the portal last Monday and took an official visit later in the week. He’s already familiar with Ole Miss. Decker’s Murray State Racers last month won the Oxford Regional as the 4-seed. He was 5 for 17 with two RBI. Decker had the go-ahead hit in the opening round to send the host Rebels to the losers’ bracket.
Decker collected three hits in five at-bats in the Regional championship, the first claimed by the Racers in their 86 seasons. He added an RBI and three runs. Murray State ultimately reached the College World Series, the first team from the MVC since 2003 to do so.
Decker finished the year on a 43-game on-base streak. He was hit by 15 pitches, the second-most in a single season in Murray State history. He stole eight bases.
Decker was primarily at second base in the field.
Judd Utermark manned second most all last season for Ole Miss. The Rebels won 43 games and hosted a Regional for the first time since 2021. They fell just one run shy — in a 12-11 loss to Decker and Murray State — of hosting their first Super since 2009.
Utermark led Ole Miss in home runs (22). He’s expected to return despite being eligible for the MLB Draft, as is slugging first baseman Will Furniss. Ole Miss is working on ace Hunter Elliott and others, too. The Rebels may have a better chance than first anticipated of getting Elliott for one final season.

Utermark could slide to third to replace Luke Hill, among other positional possibilities due to his versatility. Ole Miss wants Hill back, too, but the Rebels expect him to get drafted high and sign. Same for top reliever Mason Morris.
The MLB Draft will be held over two days — Sunday, July 13 and Monday, July 14 — in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of MLB All-Star week festivities. The portal closes July 1.
Decker helps reshape the middle infield with one of second-year shortstop Owen Paino or veteran returner Brayden Randle. The Rebels will continue to scour the market for a shortstop, however, sources told the Ole Miss Spirit ‘pickings are slim’ at the position as far as options for Ole Miss.
Decker is the eighth transfer addition for the Rebels. Ole Miss has already landed Grant Richardson (LHP, Grand Canyon), Tristan Bissetta (outfielder, Clemson), Daniel Pacella (outfielder, Illinois State), Wil Libbert (LHP, Missouri), Marko Sipila (RHP, San Diego State), Owen Kelly (RHP, Saint Louis) and Landon Koenig (RHP, North Dakota State).
